“Great” is a simple but ideally expressive English word that may express people, experiences, opportunities, material things, or thoughts and ideals.
To speak of something being great we are saying it is extremely outstanding. Highly significant. Especially notable. Extremely wonderful. Exceedingly substantial. Great is enormous-(Immense. Tremendous).
In Hebrews 2 calls our salvation “so great a salvation.” Why? Salvation’s great because it’s inspired by God’s great love. His divine love for us is unconditional.
1. Recognize and admit that you NEED GOD’S HELP
If you neglect the great salvation, how will you escape? Escape the second coming of Christ? Escape God’s judgment? Escape eternal punishment?
Brethren, we have so great a salvation. Never forget it. Never take it for granted. Never neglect it. You may be at the point where you realize that some things can’t be changed through self-effort. We ALL need God to make things better in our lives. You may need physical or emotional healing, finances, friends, or peace of mind, God has it all. Are you ready to ask Him to make a difference in your life?
2. Believe in JESUS
Have you heard of the “Good News”? The “Good News” is this:
“For there [is only] one God, and [only] one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all” (1 Timothy 2:5).
God sent Jesus Christ to be the Savior of the world. Romans 10: 9-10 says, “For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in his heart that a man becomes right with God; and with his mouth he tells others of his faith, confirming his salvation.”
Salvation’s great because it’s accessible by God’s great plan. The plan of salvation is simple and unelaborated. Easy to understand. Available. Attainable. And accessible. Jesus calls on us to believe on Him. Repent of our sins. Confess our allegiance to Him. And be baptized for the remission of our sins. (Mk. 16:16; Matt 10:32; Ax. 2:38). What a great plan!
3. Say this PRAYER
This simple prayer, when prayed in sincerity, will bring you into personal relationship with God.
Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that I need Your help. I am not able to change my life or circumstances through my own efforts. I know that I have made some wrong decisions in my life, and I turn away from those ways of thinking and acting. I believe You have provided a way for me to receive Your blessings and help in my life. That way is Jesus. Right now, I believe and confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I ask Jesus to come into my heart and give me a new life, by Your Spirit. I thank You for saving me and I ask for Your grace and mercy in my life. I pray this in Jesus’ name.
– Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you. (1 Peter 1:1-2 (ESV))
